I was ahead of the curve with this advice, and I don’t have a PhD. Just common sense from a mom who said, no, you don’t need an iPhone before high school and no, you can’t be on social media either. Our neighborhood was full of fun (bike riding, tag etc) that was reminiscent of mine.
I parented intentionally and it was way more rewarding than giving my kids an electronic device. We had fun summers and after school hours without tv or screens.
This wasn’t ages ago. My youngest is still in college. It can be done. It’s just common sense and staying strong and firm. I would encourage any parent to follow the advice in the article. It works. And your kids WILL thank you for it.
